The EEA Grants and Norway Grants is the contribution of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway to reducing economic and social disparities and to strengthening bilateral relations with 15 EU countries in Central and Southern Europe.
On 18 May 2011 Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Republic of Lithuania and Iceland, Principality of Liechtenstein and Kingdom of Norway. It was decided that EEA Grants would be distributed through Programmes administrated by Lithuanian institutions (Programme Operators) together with partner institutions from Norway (Donor Programme Partners).
Ministry of Culture is a Programme Operator for two programmes:
1) LT06 "Conservation and Revitalisation of Cultural and Natural Heritage" (9 million euro);
2) LT07 "Promotion of Diversity of Culture and Arts within European Cultural Heritage" (1 million euro).
On 16 April 2013 Programme Agreements were signed between EEA Financial Mechanism Committee and the Republic of Lithuania. EEA Grants contribute 85 per cent of the Programmes' budget and 15 per cent of the budget is added by the Republic of Lithuania.
